ESL One Cologne – About

There are now less than 2 weeks until a horde of Ninjas descend on Cologne, Germany for the world’s largest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament.

What?

The world’s largest CS:GO tournament, featuring 16 teams, that’s 80 of the best players the world has to offer. In return for their efforts there is a prize pool of a huge US $250,000, and the prestige of being the reigning champions.

When?

ESL One Cologne 2015 is happening on the 20nd – 23rd August.

Where?

The event will be held at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany.

The arena is capable of seating up to 18,000 visitors and is the home of the Kölner Haie ice hockey team, and VfL Gummersbach handball team. It has also held prestigous events such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship 99 event and numerous gigs and other events.

Who?

The championship will host the world’s best teams. These attendees are split into two categories:-

The Legends – These 8 teams recieved an invite to the tournament due to proving themselves at the previous CS:GO Major, ESL One Katowice.

The Challengers – These teams have had to fight their way through offline qualifiers. These qualifiers were held in three seperate regions to ensure that it is truely the best treams from around the globe.

2 teams coming through the Asian qualifiers.

2 teams coming from the North American qualifiers.

4 teams coming through the European qualifiers.

We will be covering all the teams attending in a future article so you know ‘who’s who’ so keep your eyes peeled for that!
