Arlandagymnasiet are set to start one of the first esport-majors in Sweden. So far they have received a a lot iof interest from all over Europa and now they have released a preliminary curriculum.
– A lot of people have contacted us including other schools that wants to start doing similar things, says Christopher Nottberg from Arlandagymnasiet.

Late January the Swedish high-school Arlandagymnasiet received a lot of attention when they announced their new esports education. Now they have presented a preliminary curriculum and so far the interest has been huge. Of the 58 applications, for eight spots, that they have received so far, half of them are from Stockholm and only six persons are female. The most popular titles are League of Legends, CS:GO and Dota2 and they have also received applications from Germany, Spain and other European countries. But so far, the admission process is in a early stage.
– We have interviewed them. Their next mission will be to send in a recording of themselves playing, then we want high-level players to review the recordings. We have spoken with Inferno Online and Alexander Ferm from the Swedish e-sportassociation and they have suggested some players to us, Christopher Nottberg from Arlandagymnasiet tells Aftonbladet Esport.

We will bring in competent people

The education will be very similar to their other athlete majors. Each week there will see four classes dedicated to esports practice. Some of the things students will work on are game understanding and tactics, athlete psychology and technique. They will also focus on preventing game addiction, sexism and physical illness. But the school doesn’t count on being able to provide all game knowledge themselves.
– We will bring in competent people as well as coaches, Christopher explains.
