Some kids play with lego, I play with nutella.

av Madeleine Leander

I always loved nutella. When I was young I wasn’t allowed to eat as much nutella as I wanted (surprise, surprise). But every time my family went on a trip to another country I bought a jar in the tax-free shop and I emptied the jar with a spoon!

When I started studying at Stockholm University I started eating far too much nutella. It was often my lunch :). But as I started working out more I allowed myself to eat as much as I wanted, cause why not? (ye, ye, tons of reasons but…)

I always have a jar at home and when I play StarCraft 2 I eat it very often. As I started to go to offline events to play StarCraft I was very nervous. I decided to try to create a more familiar environment at the events so I brought nutella and it worked. I did feel more relaxed but I was still pretty nervous and didn’t play as well as I did at home.

Some people made fun of it, but I didn’t care. After a while it became ”a thing”. For example; when I played at the IeSF world championship last year the organizers decided to put my nutella eating on the big screen between games. It was actually a bit embarrassing. All I wanted was to feel at home so that I could relax and play well. The crowd loved it tho, and if I can make a single person smile that’s a win. Hence I will continue to post nutella pictures every now and then, so watch out and ~keep smiling~
